HUMAN NATURE OR HABIT?

HUMAN NATURE OR HABIT?

Do you think taking people for granted is human nature or habit?

Teaching people how you want to be treated creates a way for others to learn how to view you and feel you.  It sets healthy boundaries, while it helps others to know what works for you and what doesn’t.

When we have a relationship where another has taken us for granted and/or overstepped our boundaries, it may not feel right for us.  We may tend to pull back from that person or to make ourselves feel uncomfortable with what we feel.  This discomfort can come from allowing ourselves to be “enablers” of others to overstep or to take us for granted.

Communication is key here and healthy.  It’s okay to ask questions of others to learn what works best for them, and to allow yourself to express what works best for you.  Relating in this way can be a win-win.  If it’s not, ask yourself why not?  What have you been enabling that the other person now might not want to give up and might not want to return to a healthy way of relating.

What do you think of this?
